Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is a song by The Beatles, from the album The Beatles, and was later released as a single. It was largely written by Paul McCartney, but as usual is officially credited to the writing duo Lennon-McCartney.
The title of the song (plus the words "Life goes on, bra") was a phrase that was often used by an acquaintance of McCartney, the Nigerian composer and musician Jimmy Scott-Emuakpor. He took legal action against McCartney, who claimed that the title was a general Nigerian expression for "life goes on". Scott-Emuakpor countered that the phrase was only known to the Scott-Emuakpor family in Nigeria. A settlement was eventually reached.
